Claire and Richard Griffin
As my parents, Joe and Dolores McCaffery, anticipated a move from San Francisco to Tacoma in 2009, my husband and I joined them in a reconnaissance trip to Franke Tobey Jones. They had already visited several other communities with my sister and brother-in-law, and FTJ was quickly rising to the top of their list. When Dick and I drove onto the grounds, we had two thoughts: “What a lovely spot! It looks like a small college campus.” That was quickly followed by “Gee, maybe someday we will live here!” Mom and Dad moved into the Garden Apartments in June 2009. Fast forward to 2017, and Dick and I moved cross-country from Alexandria, VA to our new home in the FTJ Duplexes. We were privileged to live in the same community as my parents for the last four years of their lives. Over the years, many FTJ residents have chosen this community because of the positive experiences that family members had while living here. However, I think that Dick and I among only a handful of second-generation residents who lived here at the same time as the first generation!
